During our short stay in Durban, we visited two places, the Botanical Gardens and the Indian Market.
Durban Botanical
Gardens
These
gardens are well worth a visit - in fact we enjoyed them more than the
more famous Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.
In addition to many flowers
and ornamental trees, there was a lake with many unusual bird species.
Outside we were surprised
to see a British-style red pillar box marked 'GR', presumably for King
George VI.
The Indian Market
In the heart of Durban is this indoor market on two floors. Featuring
all manor of Indian produce, from crafts of all kinds to curry powder
(we saw one marked "Hell Fire"!), it is fascinating to visit.
There is a little pressure from the shopkeepers, but not too much.
