The Garden Route

Usually describing an area of the Cape's south coast between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (although strictly just Mossel Bay to Plettenburg Bay), the Garden Route is green and fertile. There are no 'gardens' as such, just verdant forests and lush fields. Anyone coming from the English countryside may not be as impressed with this part of South Africa as much of the scenery is not so far different from home, but it is easy on the eye and there are interesting places to visit.

Whales can be seen at Mossel Bay, and the town of Knysna and its lagoon are well worth going to.
