The
largest town in the Pembrokeshire and the home of the County Show. The
shopping centre includes big names such as Argos, Boots and Smiths, and
a main Post Office. Points of interest are the 13th century castle, which
is open to the public, the river and the indoor market. Just outside the
town are more shops, the county hospital (which has an Accident and Emergency
department) and an airport.
Each summer, the Pembrokeshire County Show is held at Withybush, just
to the north of Haverfordwest. This is a nice combination of agricultural
show, fairground, trade show and boot sale. A good day out.
A swimming pool is open throughout the year. It includes a fun pool for
children, a 92ft water slide and diving boards.
There is plenty of inexpensive parking in the town, the easiest being
a small multi-storey near the main road.
