This is the best town in the county for shopping. There is a large grocery store with ample parking, and many small and medium sized shops catering for all tastes. An indoor market provides additional interest, and this leads to several riverside cafes. A modern shopping area, adjacent to the multi-storey car park, includes Argos, Smiths and Boots, as well as an excellent Farmers Market (Fridays) and places to eat. Shoppers parking is in the small multi storey car park.

On the outskirts of the town are larger stores such as Dixons in two business parks close to the hospital. Parking is plentiful and free.
