The Victorian-era Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast closed in 1996. Often referred to as Her Majesty's Prison, Belfast, it had been used on several occasions to intern Northern Ireland's political prisoners as well as convicted criminals. It is currently undergoing restoration.
